WBCOOP Event 5 2010

Event #5 of the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker was pretty interesting. It was a short handed 8 game mix. The games consisted of Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Limit Omaha Eight or Better (Hi/Lo), Razz, Limit Seven Card Stud, Limit Stud Eight or Better (Hi/Lo), No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha.

It was the first time I was playing some of these games but I read up a little on the ones I didn't have much experience with. 2-7 Triple Draw turned out to be a fun game and I did pretty well in it.

Through the first 2 breaks I was in the top 50 in chips. I got as high as 10th near the third break.

Around the bubble though, I kept getting moved to different tables where I didn't have a good sense of how the other players played.

I made some mistakes and other players made bigger mistakes but got lucky and I burned through a lot of chips pretty fast.

I don't play a lot of short handed games, throw in playing some games that were new to me and I'm surprised I got as far as I did. My biggest problem short handed around the bubble is I got too aggressive in the wrong spots.

I made it past the bubble which was good for an $11 SCOOP ticket. Going from 10th to busting out of the top 100 is a bit disappointing but not bad for my first 8-game MTT.
